Offered is a very good pair of unusually small or miniature coin silver forks by Philadelphia silversmiths and jewelers Jedediah P. Clark and Samuel Biddle, working as Clark & Biddle circa 1866-70. These forks measure about 4 3/4 inches in length and weigh a total of about 22 grams. They are perhaps too large to be dollhouse silver or toy silver, but are so much smaller than any dessert or salad forks that I don't know what their purpose might have been - perhaps for hors d'oeuvres or light fare during high tea? They are quite uncommon - the only ones I've come across within a body of tens of thousands of coin silver items over the years.

Each fork has a well-done period engraved script monogram, and a nicely struck maker's mark for Clark & Biddle. Condition is very good overall, with minimal wear and no ripples, dents, splits or repairs. Please review all of the pictures. All in all a lovely pair of coin silver forks!

Available singly for $40 each, or as a pair at the stated price.
