Offered is a nice American coin silver teaspoon by noted Philadelphia silversmith John Fries (fl. 1830-74), probably from the 1850s or early 1860s by style. This teaspoon is nicely engraved with a period script monogram of "CD" and has a legible maker's mark and standard mark. This piece measures about 6 1/8 inches in 16 grams. Condition is fairly good overall, with a slightly weathered surface and some minor bumps to the bowl, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice coin silver spoon for everyday use from a common but quality maker!
