SOLD

Offered is a scarce example of the work of William Johonnot (1779-1838), who worked in Windsor, VT circa 1800-1818 and Bethel, VT thereafter. This spoon has a rubbed but legible maker's mark for William Johonnot, flanked by eagle pseudo-hallmarks he typically used. This spoon also has a nicely engraved period script monogram of what appears to be "FB". It measures about 5 5/8 inches in length and weighs about 11 grams. Condition is fair overall, with the bowl slightly out of round and exhibiting what may be a very well done repair to the left side of the bowl - it wouldn't come out in photographs and is very subtle. The spoon is a little shiny overall, and may have been buffed. All in all a nice example of this Vermont silversmith's mark!
