Offered is a very good American coin silver teaspoon by little-known Massachusetts silversmith Earl Woodworth (1802-64), working in Hampden, MA circa 1820-25, and in Springfield, MA circa 1825-50. This spoon appears to date to Woodworth's Springfield period.
This spoon has a good strike of Woodworth's maker's mark of E.WOODWORTH in a serrated punch, with the "E" slightly rubbed but still legible. There is also a very nicely engraved period script monogram of "BR". This spoon measures about 5 3/4 inches in length and weighs about 16 grams. Condition is excellent overall, with minimal wear and dents, splits or repairs. All in all a great example of this man's work!
