Offered is a very fine American coin silver teaspoon bearing a period engraved script monogram and the maker's mark of J.F.ROBINSON; this mark has been attributed both to John Foulk Robinson (1812-67), working in Wilmington, Delaware, and to his brother Jacob F. Robinson (1819-67), who started out in Delaware but who worked in Indiana in the 1850s and then to Paris, Kentucky in the 1860s. The style of this piece is classic Delaware/Pennsylvania, and so most likely made in Wilmington by one brother or the other. This piece measures about 5 5/8 inches in length and weighs about 15 grams. Condition is excellent overall, with minimal wear and no dents, splits or repairs. All in all an excellent example of this mark and this family's wares!
