Offered is a rare and fine early American coin silver teaspoon by Lititz silversmith and watchmaker Francis (Frantz) Lewis Lennert (1805-72), who played the serpent in the village music scene, and who lived with his mother and worked out of his home. He produced few surviving pieces; this is only the second spoon of his that I've seen. This piece is in fairly good condition, with some wear and small dings, but no splits or repairs. Please review all of the pictures. It has a well-executed period engraved script monogram of "QLR", and a good legible maker's mark. . This piece measures about 6 inches in length and weighs about 15 grams. By style, it should date to about the mid-1820s, or perhaps a little later. All in all a fine antique coin silver spoon from a rare maker!
