Cliff Nunn - Antique Silver and Decorative Arts
Rare Pair of Philadelphia Teaspoons by John D. Germon, Ca. 1810-25
$67.50
Offered is a very scarce pair of early 19th Century American coin silver teaspoons by important Philadelphia silversmith John D. Germon (1751-1829), whose work is featured in many public collections but which is rarely seen in the marketplace. This pair of teaspoons dates to about the last fifteen years of Germon's active period, which seems to have ended around 1825. Each spoon is marked with Germon's maker's mark, and is engraved "CME" in period script for the original owner(s). These spoons measure about 5 7/8 inches in length and the pair weighs a total of about 29 grams. Condition is very good overall, with modest surface wear and some light bumping in the bowls, but no splits or repairs. All in all a lovely pair by a desirable maker!
