Two Coin Silver Spoons with Two Different Marks for Deodat Williams
$37.50
Offered is a nice group of two American coin silver spoons by little-known Boston silversmith Deodat Williams (b. 1794 - d. 1857), working from 1811 on. These spoons are not a pair; rather, each features a different maker's mark used by Deodat Williams.
The first spoon is initialed in period script, and has a good clear strike of D.WILLIAMS in a rectangular punch. It measures about 6 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 15 grams. It is in good condition, with some wear and signs of use but no splits or repairs.
The second spoon is not monogrammed, and has a good strike of the maker's mark D.WILLIAMS in a serrated punch. It measures about 5 1/4 inches in length and weighs about 11 grams. It is in fair condition, as the bowl looks to have been reshaped and repaired.
All in all a nice example of this maker's work and marks!
