Cliff Nunn - Antique Silver and Decorative Arts
Good Heavy Queens Pattern Variant Coin Silver Spoon - Thomas Whartenby
$45.00
Offered is a very nice and scarce example of early American coin silver in a Queens pattern variant, by noted Philadelphia silversmith Thomas Whartenby and probably dating to the 1825-40 timeframe. This piece is clearly marked with one of Whartenby's many maker's marks, and has a worn period script "AR" monogram. The die-struck pattern is a bit worn but overall is nicely preserved. This spoon measures about 5 3/4 inches in length and weighs a hefty 31 grams, or about one troy ounce. Condition is very good, with some surface wear but no tip wear and no dents, splits or repairs. All in all a great piece for display or daily use!
