Cliff Nunn - Antique Silver and Decorative Arts
Good Baltimore Coin Silver Spoon with Variant Samuel Kirk Marks
$24.00
Offered is a nice example of a form and style particular to Baltimore in the 1820s-40s, a spatulate swell-handled spoon with pointed Philadelphia-style shoulders and a monogram perched almost mid-way down the handle. In this case, the period script initials are "AHS". This piece bears a maker's mark for Samuel Kirk, and a 10:15 fineness mark for the silver quality. This spoon measures about 5 5/8 inches in length and weighs a good 25 grams. Condition is good overall, with signs of normal use and a few tiny dings, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice example!
