Baltimore circa 1850. Length 9 1/8 inches, weight 1.71 Troy ounces, attractive floral engraving, monogrammed "Clintonia."

We've checked the big bad auction site, and can't find anything similar there for under one hundred mighty dollars, so if you're a reseller, there's a good chance that you'll be able to make enough on this to buy a minor league sports team, or at the very least a small yacht.

"The Lodge of the Sacred Grove." Gilt sterling and enamel, 3 1/2 by 1 3/8 inches when fully extended, a minor stain on the silk ribbon but otherwise flawless condition, no monogram, marked "STERLING SILVER" and "17."

height 1 3/4 inches, weight .65 Troy ounces, a few very minor bruises but fine overall condition, marked as shown in second enlargement.

Alas, mainly a decorative item as no hole has been drilled for the spout to function.

looks rather like the work of Antonio Pineda but marked only Taxco 925 (see fourth photo), length 15 inches. Since it just barely fits the neck of Yours Truly, we'd hoped to have him as a model but when our photographer showed up he had run off to the wood shed, forcing us to use a stand-in.

Philadelphia circa 1825, length 3 1/2 inches, weight .81 oz. Troy, monogrammed "JLH" in period script with flourishes. With pointed, chamfered shoulders and a flat portion at tip, these are in excellent condition and of above average quality.

Often referred to as "snuff spoons," they may also have been intended for use in children's play. We'll stay safe and simply call them miniature.

with applied cat tail, bird and foliage. Although our picture fails to show it well, the bird and cat tail are red, the foliage gold. No doubt the next question out of your mouth will be, "Bruce, is this bi-color gold, or just copper and brass?" Alas I do not know and am not inclined to put a drop of acid on the item to find out. The finely engraved detail on each appliqué is typically done with gold. Length 2 3/4 inches, width of widest section 1 1/8, marked "sterling / H.B.", excel...

Heavy (2.24 oz Troy), well made and in excellent condition, you'd be hard pressed to find new sterling jewelry of this quality at any price. Diameter five+ inches, townmark for Turku, 1975, cat not included.

London, 1893, maker William Richard Corke; retailed by A. Barrett & Sons, height 4 3/8 inches, weight 21.3 grams or if you'd prefer .68 oz Troy, excellent condition, no monogram.

For Victorian era bookmark collectors, I daresay that this is the sine qua non.

circa 1955, .833 standard, height 3 1/8 inches, weight 2.67 Troy ounces, excellent condition, no monogram. A very charming little owl indeed.

length 10 1/4 inches, weight 3.2 Troy ounces, monogrammed as shown, excellent original condition. A similar ladle with applied medallion in rounded section of the handle sold at South Bay (4/18/2017; lot 195), which leads us to believe that this item was both manufactured and retailed by Newell Harding, thought Wendt is certainly a possibility.

The gilt, ruffled bowl is a tour-de-force of Victorian era engraving. Please see our third enlargement for a better view.

An attractive and reasonably priced little item from the Art Deco era.

London, 1993. Contemporary and of the finest quality, height three inches, weight an astonishing 10 Troy ounces the pair, one minor abrasion as shown but excellent overall condition. A perfect gift to grace the table of your equine aquaintances.

For those who favor comparison shopping, a similar though inferior pair by this same maker weighing only 5.7 oz. Troy sold at Julien's for 875.00 (See catalogue of the Ronnie & Jo Wood collection, 10/26/2012, lot 308).
