looks rather like the work of Antonio Pineda but marked only Taxco 925 (see fourth photo), length 15 inches. Since it just barely fits the neck of Yours Truly, we'd hoped to have him as a model but when our photographer showed up he had run off to the wood shed, forcing us to use a stand-in.

alas the bottom half only but at least you may use it to serve elegantly, weight 37 oz Troy, 12 3/8 X 9 3/8 X 2 inches, engraved with crest "stans cum rege" (standing with the King) as shown in photo number two.

of regional interest, length 8 1/4 inches, monogrammed "L.J.K." (script, obverse), fine condition. This broad fiddle pattern is typical of the Louisville/Cincinatti region. Marked "J.S. & S. COIN"; see second photo.

Boston and Salem Massachusetts circa 1800, length 9 1/8 inches, slight tip wear but heavy and in fine overall condition, monogrammed "H" (obverse, script with flourishes).

New Orleans circa 1858, length 8 3/4 inches, some minor dents in bowls but no tip wear, good overall condition, weight 2.94 Troy ounces, monogrammed "F.M.P." (script, obverse). Items bearing the mark of L. Simons (see second photo) would appear to be scarce.

A.B. Griswold & Co, New Orleans, length 5 7/8 inches, monogrammed "ML" (reverse, script with flourishes). These are not in the best condition, with some dents and tip wear, but they did spend time in our great Crescent City... Please see second photo for mark.

bowls, marked only "sterling" and "J.E.Caldwell & Co." To say that these are "highly carved" would be an understatement, and though about a hundred years old they are in essentially new condition. Length five inches, no monogram.

height 4 3/4 inches, greatest diameter 2 3/4 inches, some stains to the interior and one minor flake on stopper but good overall condition, no monogram, marked with Gorham trademark and "D940".

first standard (in Belgium this is .900); length 3 3/4 inches, bird measures 1 7/8 by 1 3/8; excellent condition, no monogram. A truly patriotic embellishment for your dining table.

or just some royal wannabe born away in her covered chair by those two fine gents? No comment from Yours Truly. Queen or not, this is a good continental silver box with finely done acid etched cover, no monogram, excellent condition, 2 1/2 by 1 inches, marked "sterling / 935" (see second photo).

Some might hold out for pie in the sky when they die, others would prefer to eat it now. We won't confess to endorsing either preference but will provide the right utensil for those who fall into category number two. Just shy of 7 1/4 inches long, excellent condition, weight 1.58 oz. Troy, monogrammed "LRM" (script, obverse, see third photo).

guilloché enamel box, three distinct patterns visible in the engine turned engraving depending on your angle of vision (see enlargements), double hidden integral hinges opening outward from the center, gilt interior, 3 1/4 by 2 1/8 by 3/8 inches. There is a minor flake in the enamel (see third photo) which doesn't extend through to the metal, and some scuffing around the edges on reverse but aside from this the condition is superb. Marked with maker's initials F.N., .900 standard mark and ...

Those of us who had a chance to visit the "Silver and Shawls: India, Europe, and the Colonial Art Market" at Harvard's Sackler Museum are no doubt all steamed up about anglo-Indian silver, and want a little example for our collection. Stop here. This is a great one. Length just shy of 5 inches; width 1 1/8; decagonal in section; nearly flawless condition (lid over stoppered end does not hold tightly-- see third photo). Unmarked; no monogram.

Just shy of 15 inches long, monogrammed "LBG" (fancy script with flourishes, obverse), a few very minor scratches and a tiny dent in bowl which may or may not show up in photo number four but fine overall condition. retailed by Hennegan Bates and presumably the work of S. Kirk, just shy of 5 3/8 inches long, fine condition, monogrammed "A".
