maker "AM", height 5 1/4 inches, weight 16.95 Troy ounces, one bobeche is slightly out of round (see fifth enlargement) but excellent overall condition, engraved "A. Arnaud."
French Sculptor Auguste Arnaud is noted for his work "The Skirmisher," now housed at the Redoute de Gravelle in Paris. He sought but failed to win a commission for the official state sculpture of Don Pedro II, King of Portugal. Most probably these were his personal candlesticks, purchased during his time in Portugal.
