What's all the brouhaha about this fine old Durgin pattern? Well at the moment, the short answer is: none whatsoever. Twenty years ago, collectors for New Art abounded. Today there are few, giving you, dear reader, the chance to obtain examples at an attractive price point. Also, it's worth noting that no other Art Nouveau flatware designs have such amazing detail in their floral decoration (see fourth photo), or such accurate representation of their subject matter.
We will note that that there may have been an erasure to the front cartouche (see third photo), but it is so subtle (and well done, if done at all) that this is probably moot.
