Vintage Hat Box "THE HUB" Henry Levy & Sons

This hat box is so neat! I think you can see the label in photo – it has “THE HUB, HENRY LEVY & SONS, 427-429 Main Street, Evansville, Indiana, Men’s Hats and Furnishings”. Isn’t that just the greatest? Hats and Furnishings!

I purchased this hatbox several years ago at a sale in, you guessed it, Evansville, Indiana. Hatbox is made of lightweight cardboard covered with tan color paper. It shows some evidence of age and use but not bad when you consider its’ age! It has some minor wear and there are a couple splits in the tan paper covering the cardboard hatbox. I think they could be carefully glued and you wouldn’t even notice them. Prior (probably the original) owner wrote on side/back of box “Fern’s Grey Hat”. Could perhaps be removed/erased but I would probably leave it.

Box is somewhat oval in shape. Top measures 14” x 12 ½”. It is 6 ½” tall. What a neat conversation piece!

Please note: shipping for this box will be a tiny bit expensive, not because of the weight but because of the size of the box necessary to carefully pack this hatbox to prevent any type of transit damage. Any package that has a measurement over 12” is considered a large parcel by the post office. As always, I charge actual shipping determined by your location.
