McCoy Pottery Horse Planter Matte White

McCoy Pottery Horse Planter Matte White for item 1852
$50.00 McCoy Matte White Horse Planter

This listing has a neat McCoy horse planter!

Made in the 1940's, planter is shaped like a horse (the planter opening is on the back side of planter) and it is a pretty matte white.

It is marked with the overlapping NM mark but is difficult to see due to glaze fill-in.

This is a very nice planter (listed as #18 of the top 100 McCoy collectibles), however, it is not perfect and I have priced it accordingly.

It has been used as intended and has sustained a 3/8" x 7/16" slice type chip on one front foot -- since planter is white, it is not glaringly noticeable. There is a glaze chip on rim of planter that may have been re-glued but it looks like it has glaze on top part so I think it is a bruise instead of a re-glue but am not certain. There is a super tight hairline (like a pencil mark) that begins at rim corner of planter (next to horse) and extends 2 1/2" down planter and around horse's front leg. The hairline does not go through to inside of planter.

From my description, planter sounds awful, doesn't it? It's not -- but it's not perfect. I didn't hesitate to purchase this planter at an estate sale because even with it's flaws, it is very collectible and is becoming more and more difficult to find.
