Greensburg pink satin glass powder jar Elephant finial

Greensburg pink satin glass powder jar Elephant finial for item safn-1633
$95.00 $95.00

GUARENTEED ORIGINAL - This Depression era animal figural powder jar has a striking Art Deco design featuring an elephant in a standing position with his trunk down. Whitmyer shows it on pg 11 of - Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years and states that it was designed by Charles Oestreich, for whom a patent was granted in January of 1931. We believe it was produced by the Greensburg Glass Co of Greensburg, PA and beautifully executed with fine defination to the elephant's features. This covered dish was made in a lovely pink satin or frosted Depression glass. Measuring about 4 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" across. Both the jar and it's lid are in wonderful condition. The lid has a couple of tiny rough spots, but nothing I can call a chip. L.E. Smith bought the Greenburg glass company in the 1930's. Some of these I see are listed as L.E. Smith, but if you look closely the base texture and pattern differs. This one has a smaller delicate pattern.
