Slightly more elaborated than "Cottage" as popularized Gorham, this rounded end design with a small fleur-de-lis, slightly upturned, srolled tip end has a thread edge and may be the design advertised as "Threaded" by the maker, Newell Harding & Co. of Boston. Additional design elements include an elaborated fleur-de-lis on the reverse heel of the bowl.

The manufacturer's name appears on the backside of this 9" long, just over 3.1 T. oz., large serving, likely pudding, spoon. Other marks include "Pure Coin" and "Pat. 66."

The bowl is substantially sized at 3 3/8" by 2 3/8", and deep at 5/8". It has a slightly pointed tip and is finished on both front and back sides in a gold wash.

Without a monogram or removal, it is in outstanding estate condition. Free of polishing wear, it has a warm, even patina. The bowl is without dents, nicks, or burrs, and apart from a small bare spot on the backside heel where it rests, retains all its gold surface.
