$85.00

Slender and delicate, this piece measures 8 3/4" long and weighs just under 1.2 T. oz.

Marked only "Coin," without a maker's or retailer's identification, the rounded handle with notched tip essentially matches Gorham's early, 1865, "Italian" pattern, and the quality of manufacture suggests such a significant maker.

This is bordered by fine wriggle work engraving and has an elegant period "EC" feathered script monogram set in the center of the plain area of the surface.

The lower portion of the handle has a twisted stem, which is a design detail consistent with the date of the piece.

A berry spoon or other serving item, it has a generously proportioned, shell shaped, bowl that is finished in a gold wash on the interior.

In outstanding estate condition, it shows no evident wear. The engraving remains crisp and the bowl is without dents, dings, or nicks. There is slight polishing wear to the gold on the interior ridges of the bowl. The piece overall shows a warm, even, patina.
