Something between a teacup and a mug, this item stands 2" high to the rim, 2 1/2" to the top of the handle, has a top opening of 3" and a rolled rimmed base 2 3/8" in diameter, and weighs approximately 3.7 T. oz.

It was made by Dominick & Haff in 1891, as indicated by the company emblem with date imprinted on the underside, and retailed by Rand & Crane, both firms of New York City. Other marks include "Sterling" and model number "135."

It was presented to "Harriet Neilson Shriver" on "March 28th 1893," likely a birth or baptism date, as inscribed on the side.

The body has repousse scroll and leaf detailing with lattice work inscribed areas. The curvilinear design of the hollow handle follows after the style of the body.

While remaining round and sitting flat, and without deep dents, breaks, or tears, the piece shows numerous nicks, bumps, and pings in the surface, indicating it was rigorously used by young Miss Shriver. The inscription is softened, suggesting a fair amount of polishing over time.
