HOLD

A large, 10 1/2" wide by 2" tall, and weighty at 15.1 T. oz., this item is aptly described as a centerpiece or console bowl, as it is of a caliber to serve as a prominent display item.

It is sterling silver, model "4805A" made by Gorham in 1907, all of which information is indicated by the marks on the underside.

It is decidedly Art Nouveau in style, featuring raised wild rose blossoms and trailing stems arrayed on an undulating rim. The quality of the design and execution are such that they evoke a sense of Gorham's renowned Martele line, which represents the pinnacle in American Art Nouveau silver craft.

There is a line script "MBW" monogram in the interior center.

The piece is in superb estate condition. It is free of any bends, dents, or polishing wear, and has a bright, hand polished only, overall finish.
