$80.00

Measuring 6 7/8" long, and weighty at approximately 1.5 T. oz., this spoon is stamped with Whiting's "winged lion" emblem, "Sterling," "Pat. Appd. For" (indicating it is an early production piece in the line), and with the name of the retailer, Brooklyn's "W(illiam). Wise."

The pattern is Persian, which dates from 1880. It is a Moresque design in the same genre as Tiffany's pattern of the same name, as well as Whiting's own Arabesque and Gorham's Hindostanee among others.

The reserve area on the handle front is engraved with a finely engraved, feathered script, "HAW" monogram.

THe bowl is shell form and retains a portion of an original gold wash, front and back sides.

In excellent condition, the only sign of use is the polishing loss of the gold wash in the bowl which is otherwise free of dents, bends, nicks, or burrs. Pattern detail remains well-defined and crisp, while the overall finish is bright and even.
