$95.00

A very early example of Reed & Barton's "Les Cinq Fleurs," this berry spoon is large at 9" long and weighty at 3.5 T. oz.

A multi-motif, Art Nouveau, design that features orchids, narcissus, and possibly poppy on this piece, the portraiture is set in high relief and is particularly expressive.

This item is laden with provenance, reflected in the various inscriptions that appear in the gold washed bowl and handle front and backsides.

The surname "McCurdy" is engraved in Old English lettering in the bowl, with a "W" appearing on the handle backside. The handle front reads, "7-20-'03" in cursive.

Such detail transforms this from an item to an artifact and locates it in a specific time and implied circumstance.

It remains in original estate condition, showing only a slight bit of wear to the gold finish and otherwise there is no evidence of use or damage.

Marks are Reed & Barton's "eagle, R, lion" emblem, "sterling," and "Pat.May22.1900," all in fine, precise lettering as would be expected of an old piece.
