$36.00

Dating circa 1845, this 6 1/2" long, .7 T. oz., sugar spoon is stamped with a three part "D, eagle, bust" hallmark that John McGrew in Manufactureres' Marks on American Coin Silver attributes to the Albany, New York, firm of Hall, Hewson & Brower.

It has a "Tipt" end handle with high, rounded, shoulders off the bowl, which is an interesting shell form variant with a plain heel and central vee.

There is a script letter "S.J.S." monogram engraved sideways on the handle front.

In very good condition, this shows only faint polishing wear and light surface scratches consistent with age. The bowl is free of dents, bends, or breaks, while the overall finish has a soft patina.
