This sugar spoon measures 6" long and weighs .5 T. oz.

It has an "Antique," rounded end, handle that along with the bowl, is engraved in an Aesthetic mode design.

In addition to the non-figural, Eastlake, style elements, the handle features an endearing portraiture of a butterfly alighting upon a wispy, leafy stalk.

The oval bowl has notched edges, a pointed tip, and repeats the engraved theme on the handle, save it is absent a butterfly.

The backside is plain except for the marks, which include the name of Boston jeweler, "A. Stowell & Co.," and "Coin."

While without a maker's identification, the bowl form in particular and the nature of the engraving clearly identify this as produced by N.G. Wood & Son(s), a Boston manufacturer founded in 1870.

Never monogrammed, it is in excellent condition, free of polishing wear, or bends, dents, or nicks in the bowl. The engraving remains crisp.
