Measuring 6 1/4" in diameter and weighing 3.3 T. oz., this solid silver butter plate aka tidbit tray is characterized by its pair of applied arms or rests intended to accommodate a knife or other implement.

Fully original, it was made by Gorham, whose name, "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and model number "748" are stamped on the underside edge.

The pattern is "Chantilly-Duchess," which was Gorham's appellation for the holloware line that matched its "Chantilly" flatware.

In superb condition, it is free of polishing wear, bends, or dents, and has a brilliant finish. The only signs of use are several light surface scratches on the inside bottom, visible only in a raking light.
