$65.00

Stamped with the "star, lion, D" pseudo hallmark of maker John L. Westervelt of Newburgh, New York, and the name "Andrew Dunn" of Fort Plain, New York, this master butter knife measures 7 1/2" long and weighs a substantial 1.4 T. oz.

The pattern is "Cone," dating circa 1860, and features ivy and other leaves, along with anthemion and bellflower detail set on a shaped handle, all of which is suggestive of the Greek Revival design mode of the period.

The 1" wide, broad, blade is set at a right angle to the handle and has a blunt end and scalloped upper edge.

Never monogrammed, the piece is in excellent condition absent polishing wear or damage and shows a rich patina.
