Contemporary in style, and especially evocative of Mid Century Modern design, this novel, matched pair of 11 3/8" long, 4.8 T. oz. combined weight, salad (or buffet) servers nonetheless most likely trace to the late 19th century.

They are marked for New York's "Dominick & Haff," 1872-1928, along with "Sterling."

Not a regular line pattern, they have plain, tubular, slightly tapered handles, each of which is engraved with an embellished Old English "B" monogram.

The bowls are oval, with cupped heels and decorative piercing on the crossbar of the tines of the fork.

These appear to be influenced by the Aesthetic taste--hence the dating suggested above--to which Dominick & Haff was particularly responsive, having produced a number of innovative period designs in this manner.

In very good estate condition, these are free of dents, bends, or splits in the handles. The bowls show perhaps three pinprick nicks and otherwise are flawless. The overall finishes are bright and even. 24. T. each 4.8 combined
