$46.00

A 6 7/8" long, .9 T. oz., piece, this fully original olive spoon is marked with the "helmet over shield" emblem of International Silver Company, along with "Sterling."

The pattern is Margaret Old issued in 1907, preceding Margaret New, introduced in 1912.

Both patterns are identical save the earlier one includes a design detail at the join between the handle and bowl, tine, or serving end, while the later pattern is plain in the same area.

The straightforward pattern shows the influences of the Colonial Revival mode coming into its own in the period. The handle has a multiple-lined border with a leaf or shell like ornament at the pointed tip, as well as the aforementioned detail at the juncture with the bowl.

The bowl has angular shoulders, scalloped edges, and is pierced in a bellflower, dot and fleur-de-lis design. In keeping with the overall simplicity of the piece it is otherwise without ornament.

Never monogrammed, this is in essentially original condition, absent wear or damage, and having a bright finish.
