Made by International, whose Simpson, Hall, Miller division "helmut" emblem, "Sterling," and model number "C 1960" appear on the backside of the handle, this tea strainer is in the Arts & Crafts mode and likely dates from the first quarter of the twentieth century.

It is over-the-cup style, with a round, 2 1/8" diameter by 3/4" deep, pierced, bowl. This has a narrow rim with a rolled edge.

The bowl is joined to a 2 13/16" long Pointed Antique slightly upturned, handle and a corresponding 1/2" tab on the opposite side to hook over the lip of a cup.

All silver, it weighs .65 T. oz.

All surfaces of the piece show a hammered surface, which work appears to be hand-crafted, given its irregularity. This is entirely plausible in that the model number indicates this was a specialty piece.

In flawless condition, this is without dents, bends, or tears in the bowl. The finish is a muted gray.
