A very rare and highly charming porcelain figure of Budai (Daduze), bare chested with a laughing expression, seated leaning on his sack of treasures. Decorated in famille rose manner with additional gold. Two maker’s seals: “Fujian Huiguan” and “ Made by You Linji).
****These seals are identifying marks of the Jingdezhen artist working at Fujian Huiguan.
**** You Linji was the artist name of You Zhangzi /You Linzizi ( 1872-1922 ). Before moving to Jingdezhen, he first trained under Zhang Jinkui a famous Dehua master. His works are all unique and of hight quality; he was one of the most famous porcelain artist of the Republican Period.
**** Comes with a fitted, square base of rosewood from the time (an inside note from previous owners written in Danish mentions that the piece was brought back to Denmark in the 1920s).

Condition: Very good with minor wear to enamels and gold. A super tiny chip to right hand finger, but no repairs or breaks.
