Bright cut engraved designs were popular among American silver manufacturers during the last quarter of the 19th century, with this 7" long, approximately 1.6 T. oz., gravy ladle a fine example of the style. Made by Gorham, whose "lion, anchor, G" emblem and the word "Sterling" appear on the "Old English" tipt handle backside, the pattern is Chrysanthemum, issued in 1885.
