This 3 5/8" long, 7 gram (just over .2 T. oz.), piece is marked "Sterling" and with the Webster Company "WC pierced by an arrow" emblem.

A novel form master salt spoon, it features a scoop bowl with a hood which is pierced on one side and has a hemispherical cover on the open end. The interior is finished in a bright gold wash.

The pointed antique style handle is hollow.

The intended function of this unusual, 9" long, 1.6 T. oz., solid silver piece is ambiguous, in that its slender length and overall proportions are suggestive of a lettuce fork, while its serving end comprised of four tines joined by crossbars, attached to a pierced heel, follows the form of a beef fork.

Made by Watson, whose Mechanics Division "pennant" emblem appears on the handle reverse along with the word "Sterling," the pattern is "Orchid."

An early line pattern first issued in 1861 to a coin silver standard, "Cottage" continued in production for many years, through Gorham's transition to sterling in 1868.

This 8 3/4" long, just over 1.8 T. oz., berry or other serving spoon is marked "Sterling," indicating it dates 1868 or later. Other marks include the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Patent 1861," and the rarely found identifier, "Gorham Mfg. Co."

An early example of "Chantilly," this 3" long, relatively weighty at nearly .7 T. oz., baby food pusher is marked with Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat. 95."

It has a 2" by 1/2" solid silver, slightly curved, blade that has a scalloped upper edge.

The handle front is engraved "Frank" in block lettering. This is lightly inscribed and is slightly rubbed on the high point of the silver, thereby faintly burring the "A" and "N."

One of Whiting's earliest patterns, "Armor" was patented in 1871, as stamped on the reverse of this 5 7/8" long, .6 T. oz., sugar spoon.

Other marks include the company's "lion and W" logo, "Sterling," and the name of the retailer, "Geo. W. Biggs," Pittsburgh, 1868-1903.

This has a shell bowl that is finished in a bright gold wash front and back sides.
