19th Century American Sterling Silver Mote Spoon
Silver : Sterling : Flatware

Old Friends
4187f   $65.00

click for details
An example of American silver design following after a much older English form, mote, aka skimming, spoons have a pierced bowl on one end, and a pointed or spear tip on the other.

Most discussion about purpose indicates they were originally tea related, used for filtering loose leaves, with the point serving to clear a spout of clogs.

Late Victorian in date, this stylized piece measures 8 1/2" long and weighs not quite .4 T. oz., and could readily double as an olive spoon.

The bowl is... Click for details

Pair of Oxford, CT Coin Silver Dessert Spoons by Nathaniel L.Proctor
Silver : Coin Silver

Cliff Nunn - Antique Silver and Decorative Arts
20200404-04   Sold

Offered is a nice pair of American coin silver dessert spoons by little-known Connecticut silversmith Nathaniel Langdon Proctor (1824-1908), working in Oxford, CT circa 1845. It appears Mr. Proctor was not successful in his chosen career, as he was listed by the 1850 census as a 'pedler' (peddler). His mark certainly seems to be uncommon. These two dessert spoons each have a period engraved script monogram, and each has a well-struck example of Nathaniel L. Proctor's maker's mark. These... Click for details

Vintage girl bust made of ceramic with a creamy white matte glaze. I always thought these to be made by Lefton, but I see that Napcoware made them also. Measures 9 1/2" tall and is in wonderful condition with no damages. Looks like there was a felt-type cover across the bottom, which thinly remains ( to keep from scratching the furniture). I have 2 identical, both are girls. Price is per item.
