lacking a catalog, we can't say for sure that it's Old English but with scrolled border and trailing floral appliqués the resemblance is quite strong, diameter 2 inches, height 1 3/4, weight a hefty 1.95 Troy ounces, some very light scratches as shown in enlargement number three but fine overall condition.

There are some condition issues. One (on left in photo) has some dents in the side panels; the bobeche on the other is a bit wavy. Also, though they bear the same model number, one is decorated with beading and the other with "rope."

Keep in mind that when your table is lit with candle light, the guests will simply say "what lovely pair of candlesticks!"

a sugar sifter length 7 1/8 inches; weight 1.74 oz. Troy, and a scalloped engraved bowl preserve spoon length 9 inches; weight 2 Troy ounces. Both pieces are marked only "STERLING," (attributed to Wendt) have fully gilt matte finish bowls and are in immaculate condition. We do not recall having seen this pattern before.

Every now and then one finds a piece which captures the Zeitgeist of the late Victorian era. This little brooch, with its highly naturalistic subject matter and "picture in a frame" motif is just such an example. Length 1 by 1 1/4 inches excluding frame ends, two well modeled and finely cast birds applied to body, excellent condition, with registry mark only (please see third photo); year 1879.

pleasantly rotund and sturdy, this weighs just shy of one Troy ounce (.98) and is in excellent condition, with a fully functional hinge and a clasp which snaps shut properly.

Though it may only win second prize in a beauty contest, the price is attractive and we've certainly seen uglier ones.
