Danvers, MA circa 1930, height 3 1/4; top diameter 2 5/8 inches, weight 5.75 Troy ounces, no monogram, some very light scratches but excellent overall condition.
Though his work is ardently sought by collectors, Porter's output was not always of consistent quality. His soldering was occasionally sloppy, and his hammer marks were at times random. Here, the seams are nearly invisible, and the art peen hammering (please see third enlargement) is laid out masterfully along the vertical axis.... Click for details

A Renaissance Revival pattern, Whiting's Arabesque takes its name from the generic scroll and rosette design on the handle, with in this instance the addition of a large, standing griffin below the open reserve area. This example is an 8 1/8" long, approximately 1.7 T. oz., table or serving spoon retailed by "Sunderlin & McAllaster," Rochester, New York, as stamped on the backside. Allow me to begin by saying all the things it's not: 1) Ashbee 2) Knox 3) Liberty 4) perfect.
And now, let's move along to cheerier thoughts. Weight 5.38 Troy ounces, top diameter 3 3/4 inches, length across handles 6 5/8 inches, no monogram, maker's mark MM (London, 1904), two lovely bits of floral repoussé decoration at each handle join, fine condition aside from the unfortunate soft solder repair shown in enlargement number three, price in the three as opposed to four or five... Height 8 3/4 inches, loaded square base, no monogram, Gorham trademark and date symbol for 1908. In need of a good polishing which you, dear reader, may provide but otherwise in excellent condition.
Though weighted, this seems to be of a heavier than average gauge, and I suspect that there may be a dollar or two to be made here for someone who wants to send this along to the Great Melting Pot in the Sky.

Measuring 5 1/2" long and weighing just over 1.0 T. oz. (32 grams), this pair of George III English tongs are marked "SG/EW" for London silversmiths Samuel Godbehere and Edward Wigan. Other marks are a "lion" for sterling, a "bust" duty mark, and date letter "G" for 1802-03. Very much a period item, the slender, curvilinear, arms are bright cut and wriggle work engraved in a starburst and diamond pattern. The Watson Company of North Attleborough, MA made a wide-ranging series of high relief floral patterns in the early 1900's. Designed by Eustace Crees and Charles Court, they rank as some of the finest representations of nature in American silver flatware.

Tracing to the reign of England's George II, this 8 3/4" long, approximately 1.3 T. oz., piece is fully and clearly hallmarked for sterling, London, 1758, and maker William Turner (script WT). A Marrow scoop, if follows fully after the form, with two elongated, rounded end, bowls, one wide and one narrow, joined by a solid bar.
