This is a vintage souvenir plate from the Vatican. It shows Pope Pius XII in the Sedia Garden, carried in the plaza in front of St. Peters Basilica. It is a work of art by the artist, A. Giordani. It measures 10 inches in diameter and is ringed with 22k gold. The rim has a beautiful irridescent lustre ware finish. Pope Pius 12 was Pope beginning in 1939, and was the Pope during WWII.....This piece, though old, is in mint condition. Made by Homer Laughlin, Eggshell Georgian. Made in USA...

It is a Christmas (Jul) plate from 1981, and shows a view of someone carrying a bough of greenery and many birds flying from amongst it and all around. It has a green stamped backmark with the stylized B&G castle emblem, encircled by the words COPENHAGEN PORCELAIN MADE IN DENMARK in block capitals, and Julenejet Christmas Peace in script letters.
