This piece measures 7 1/2" long, weighs 1.2 T. oz., and has a 2 3/4" by 1 3/4" oblong bowl with a central groove in the interior and rounded corners.

It was made by Frank Smith, likely in the 1880s, and is stamped with his early "S flanked by scrolls" emblem, the word "Sterling," and the name of the retailer, "C.E. Wright" on the reverse.

A popular motif from the 1880s, engraved versions of "Lily," actually "Lily of the Valley" with Aesthetic detailing, were produced by multiple manufacturers.

This matched set of eight, 5 15/16" long, 4.0 T. oz. the group, oyster, shrimp, or simply seafood, cocktail forks were made by Frank Whiting whose "W in a circle" and "Sterling" are imprinted on the reverses.

Measuring 7 3/4" long and weighing 2.0 T. oz., this fork has rounded shoulders and three wide and lengthy tines, the outer two of which are splayed.

The form is uncommon and hence of uncertain function. It may be a spinach or toast/bread fork, or for another purpose yet. The proportions assure it is definitely original and not adapted from another piece as, for example, most potato forks are derived from dinner forks...

It could be argued the two patterns are variants of the same design, with the former incorporating English style detail and the latter French, as intimated by their respective names. Buckingham is also more robust, i.e. generally heavier weight, than Chantilly, and often has more elaborated serving ends.
