Relatively lengthy at 6", with slender, Fiddle Tipt handles in a style that is particular to Baltimore where they were made, this group of four, matching, teaspoons weigh 2.3 T. oz.

Each one is stamped "S. Kirk & Son" along with the standard mark "10.15," which is roughly equivalent to coin silver. This specific combination of marks was used 1846-61.

Each piece has a feathered script "EVE" monogram engraved on the front and an exposed thumb drop on the bowl reverse.

Offered is a good set of six American silver teaspoons dating to about 1832-44, by Trenton, New Jersey silversmith Samuel Roberts. Each spoon is marked S.ROBERTS in a rectangular punch and is engraved with a period script monogram. These spoons measure about 5 7/8 inches in length and weigh about 92 grams altogether. Condition overall is very good, with minor areas of tough tarnish and a few signs of use, but no splits or repairs. All in all a nice set of NJ coin silver spoons!

A 7 3/8" long, 1.1 T. oz., preserve spoon, this 19th century piece is marked "Sterling" without a manufacturer's identification.

Essentially flat-handled with a shaped margin, raised central oval, and bright cut engraved detailing, the style suggests maker Fessenden of Providence, Rhode Island.

The rounded end, shallow, bowl, has flanged and notched shoulders, a central raised vee, and is wriggle work engraved in a leaf motif set against a matte ground.

While marked "Pat. Appld. For," along with maker's name "J[ohn]. Cook," New York City, later examples of this unnamed pattern indicate the patent was actually issued in 1869, dating this some time before that.

The piece is a large, 9 7/8" long, 2.4 T. oz., die struck, coin silver server, likely for ice cream.

In his comprehensive work Tiffany Silver Flatware, author William Hood discusses a number of "not-full-line patterns without a known name or description."

This 6" long, weighty at 1.2 T. oz., specialty teaspoon falls into this category.

As with several of the pieces Hood illustrates, this is based on "a form related to conventional Antique" with "a chamfered edge around the front of the handle."

An original knife, fork and spoon youth grouping, each of these pieces is stamped "C.A.W. Crosby" for the Boston jeweler, 1855 onward, and "Pure-Coin," which is a characteristic New England term indicating the silver content.

A double die struck (meaning the design appears on both sides) Olive pattern popular in the mid 19th century, each handle is inscribed in script lettering set sideways, "C.J.A. to C.A.P."

An 8 3/8" long, approximately 1.9 T. oz., table serving spoon, this piece is fully hallmarked for London, sterling silver, 1775, and maker Stephen Adams I (S·A).

Having a Hanoverian handle, the end is upturned and tipt, while there is a long drop, evolved from a rattail, on the bowl backside.

The handle reverse is engraved in a period "S + S" monogram.

An original production example of Versailles, this 5 7/8" long, 1.0 T. oz., piece is stamped on the backside heel with Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Copyrighted '88."

An old style pastry fork, it has three tines, one of which is wider than the other two and has a hooked tip.

The multi-motif pattern draws its imagery from the French palace for which it is named and in this instance features a pair of playful looking cherubs on the handle front.
