Baltimore MD circa 1790, round downturned end with just a hint of a rear midrib extending 3 inches down the handle, unusual double arched drop, length 8 3/4 inches, some tip wear as shown but good overall condition, monogrammed "H" in period script. probably Netherlands circa 1900, marked 830s, monogrammed "KH / 12 8 '96", excellent condition and as we say here in Boston, "it's a baaahgin".

in rectangle. Is this Joseph Carman? John Chalmers? Joseph Carpenter? Am I failing to Inspire Confidence? Truly, as with many initial marks, the answer may never be known. Length 5 7/8 inches, monogrammed "M" in period script, the bowls are a bit chewed up (see fourth photo) and there is some tip wear-- priced accordingly.

length 4 1/4 inches, no monogram, the gilt bowl is a bit splotchy but otherwise in fine condition.

Length 7 1/4 inches, fine condition, monogrammed "G" (or is it "T"?) Old English style. Surely someone amongst ye Internet Legions is in need of a Watteau fish fork?

Boston and Salem Massachusetts circa 1800, length 9 1/8 inches, slight tip wear but heavy and in fine overall condition, monogrammed "H" (obverse, script with flourishes).

bowls, marked only "sterling" and "J.E.Caldwell & Co." To say that these are "highly carved" would be an understatement, and though about a hundred years old they are in essentially new condition. Length five inches, no monogram.

height 4 3/4 inches, greatest diameter 2 3/4 inches, some stains to the interior and one minor flake on stopper but good overall condition, no monogram, marked with Gorham trademark and "D940".

first standard (in Belgium this is .900); length 3 3/4 inches, bird measures 1 7/8 by 1 3/8; excellent condition, no monogram. A truly patriotic embellishment for your dining table.

or just some royal wannabe born away in her covered chair by those two fine gents? No comment from Yours Truly. Queen or not, this is a good continental silver box with finely done acid etched cover, no monogram, excellent condition, 2 1/2 by 1 inches, marked "sterling / 935" (see second photo).

Some might hold out for pie in the sky when they die, others would prefer to eat it now. We won't confess to endorsing either preference but will provide the right utensil for those who fall into category number two. Just shy of 7 1/4 inches long, excellent condition, weight 1.58 oz. Troy, monogrammed "LRM" (script, obverse, see third photo).

guilloché enamel box, three distinct patterns visible in the engine turned engraving depending on your angle of vision (see enlargements), double hidden integral hinges opening outward from the center, gilt interior, 3 1/4 by 2 1/8 by 3/8 inches. There is a minor flake in the enamel (see third photo) which doesn't extend through to the metal, and some scuffing around the edges on reverse but aside from this the condition is superb...

Those of us who had a chance to visit the "Silver and Shawls: India, Europe, and the Colonial Art Market" at Harvard's Sackler Museum are no doubt all steamed up about anglo-Indian silver, and want a little example for our collection. Stop here. This is a great one. Length just shy of 5 inches; width 1 1/8; decagonal in section; nearly flawless condition (lid over stoppered end does not hold tightly-- see third photo). Unmarked; no monogram.

Just shy of 15 inches long, monogrammed "LBG" (fancy script with flourishes, obverse), a few very minor scratches and a tiny dent in bowl which may or may not show up in photo number four but fine overall condition.
