Though not a "first demand" pattern, the Antique Ivies were made by several manufacturers, and involved extensive skill and hand work to produce. Expensive when first sold, they are members of a dying breed, as most flatware of this quality has now been consigned to the melting pot...

length 6 3/4 inches, weight 2.92 Troy ounces the pair, retailed by Tiffany & Co. One has slight dents in bowl visible from reverse (see third image) but excellent overall condition, monogrammed "Calhoun."

Did these spoons belong to one of Vice President John Calhoun's children? We like to think yes, but don't ask me to prove it!

Nine out of ten alleged Lily lettuce forks that come on the market are recast, so it's a pleasure to see an old, original example.

in rectangle. Is this Joseph Carman? John Chalmers? Joseph Carpenter? Am I failing to Inspire Confidence? Truly, as with many initial marks, the answer may never be known. Length 5 7/8 inches, monogrammed "M" in period script, the bowls are a bit chewed up (see fourth photo) and there is some tip wear-- priced accordingly.

lengths 7 9/16, 6 7/8 inches; excellent condition, monogrammed "Strollers" and "F" respectively. A highly detailed and well modelled pattern-- we've long suspected that the grapes are applied rather than die-struck-- (see second photo) from our favorite flatware maker.

length 5 3/8 inches, excellent condition, gilt bowl, no monogram, retailed by Hart Brothers. Unlike many of its alleged peers, this one is not "custom made" or "hand crafted" but an original product of Gorham some hundred and twenty-five years old.

a header which may alas place us in shady company, length 2 3/8 inches, with snuff/tobacco spoon, pipe scraper, and tamper that doubles as a seal (see fourth photo for positive image). Superb condition.

length 6 inches, monogrammed reverse "MRC / KC" in period script. There is a tiny drop of hard solder to the left of the word "PENINSULAM," (please see fourth photo) done we suspect in the making, but aside from this the condition is excellent.

Chrysanthemum patterns were wildly popular in the 1880's. Tiffany, Gorham, Shiebler and other manufacturers all produced them, but this is certainly among the best of these designs.

I suspect that this item has had a light buffing at some point during its long life, and there is some wear commensurate with age (that 1904 engraving is most probably very close to the date of manufacture), but very good overall condition
