silver polish. Folks often come into the shop and ask what I use to make all of our silver look so splendidly handsome. (Then again, there are others who want to know why the proprietor is so decidedly unkempt, but we won't get into that.) I've decided to unleash the secret and perhaps earn a buck or two in the process. This is the ten ounce size, and yes it truly does retard tarnish formation. Rose & Vase not included.

Let's face it: after months and months of enduring the pandemic, you're probably ready for a drink and perhaps two. Might as well do it in style with this high quality antique julep cup.

Though other (albeit some slightly cheaper; some not) examples by Mr. Hudson have come on the market, none that I've seen have --at just shy of six (5.94) Troy ounces --been so heavy and well constructed. A few very minor dings but fine overall condition and monogrammed in period script as shown...

A fine, heavy piece in excellent condition. Measurements: 3 3/4 by 2 inches; marks: Kerr trademark / STERLING / 2719; no monogram.

(for lack of a better description we'll call it this) with finely detailed alternating satyr's heads and irises above an urn shaped vessel decorated with garlands of highly three-dimensional applied flowers, height 9 1/2 inches, weight 14.09 Troy ounces, monogrammed as shown, one extremely minor dent which will not show up in a photo but excellent overall condition.

Kerr, a famous Newark jewelry and silver manufacturer of the early twentieth century, was noted for excellence of design...

length 5 1/4+ inches, excellent condition, no monogram. A splendid gift for your Keuka grad or alum, made by the Shepard Mfg. Corporation of Melrose, Massachusetts circa 1895.

length 6 1/8 inches, total Troy weight 17.85 Troy ounces, fine condition, monogrammed "m". These are delightfully heavy in the hand, and so thick that they're marked on the side (see fifth enlargement).

What could you do with them? Well, I for one would be ecstatic if served an appetizer of duck liver paté in a little ramekin with a very elegant silver knife. But then again, I'd probably also be pretty happy to see this even without one...

length 3 3/4 inches, excellent condition, no monogram. Not antique but perhaps from the 1920's (see photo number two for mark) with better detail, die-depth and stronger oxidation than you'd find in a brand new one.

length 5 5/8 inches, excellent condition, no monogram. An old and lushly detailed piece of repoussé of a quality which is becoming increasingly hard to find.

length inches, weight 2.17 Troy ounces, monogrammed "G" (?) in elaborate shaded script, obverse, and "1824 / 1874" reverse, reticulated gilt bowl engraved with ivy leaves, immaculate original condition.

We have never encountered a spoon with this boat-shaped flat bottom bowl in the past, and have conferred with a Very Knowledgeable Fellow who has owned one (yes, just one) before and is of the opinion that this is indeed a berry spoon.

length 10 5/8 inches, weight 2.93 Troy ounces, excellent original condition, no monogram, with gilt matte-finish blade, marked as shown in fourth enlargement.

length 9 1/8 inches, monogrammed "FLC" script reverse (see third photo), marked "sterling 11", an extremely slight wave to the blade mentioned as my esteemed colleague in Tennessee would say only for the sake of accuracy but fine overall condition and not one but two bugs crawling among those roses...

length 6 3/4 inches, weight 1.6 Troy ounces, no monogram, excellent condition, marked "14 PAT. STERLING."

A delightful bit of Victoriana where function follows form, as each tine is shaped like a tiny cucumber.

length 8 3/8 inches, no monogram, a small test mark on front of bowl at 11 o'clock position but otherwise excellent condition, weight 1.92 Troy ounces, marked as shown in fourth enlargement.

These are often found with pairs of chopsticks, but some miscreant seems to have made off with the chopsticks.

preserve spoon with gilt shell bowl, length 9 1/8 inches, excellent original condition, weight 2.01 Troy ounces, retailed by Larmour & Co. of Baltimore.

Though admittedly my memory is not what it used to be, I can't recall ever having owned an item in this pattern. It is a wonderful naturalistic form which Krider executed with the highest quality...

length 9 7/8 inches, no monogram, a minor nick toward the end of handle (please see second photo) but fine overall condition, weight 3.72 oz Troy. Perfect for serving lasagne or other casseroles.

10 1/2 inches long; fine condition; monogrammed "MJM" (at end) in period script with flourishes; marked "BALL BLACK & CO / 950"; weight 6.5 oz. Troy. Also known as a "yoked" asparagus tongs, which sounds a bit bovine to these ears...

no monogram, fine condition, length 4 1/2 inches. A splendid little example of British Arts & Crafts silver, and with the dollar down in the doldrums our price probably amounts to no more than a few quid... Please see third photo for marks.

With sinuous curves and whimsical spade-shaped feet, this is truly a little classic of English Art Nouveau silver.
