Delicate and slender, this lettuce fork measures a lengthy 9 1/8" and weighs .9 T. oz.

An early example of Whiting's Imperial Queen, it is stamped with the company's "lion and W" logo, "Sterling," "Pat. 1893," and with an Old English "O."

Never monogrammed, it is in excellent condition.

The shell and leaf elements that constitute the design are free of polishing wear, remaining crisp and well-defined. The wispy tines are well-formed and without bends, nicks, or burrs...

This 5 1/2" long, .8 T. oz., sardine fork is stamped with the Whiting Manufacturing Company "lion and W" emblem, "Sterling," an Old English "O," and "Pat. 1896."

The pattern is Dresden, which is a charming and intricate, late 19th century, floral design that features what appear to be forget-me-not blossoms and leaves trailing up the handle. A shell surmounts the handle tip and there is acanthus leaf detailing in other areas...

This 4" long, .6 T. oz., piece has a shield, wreath, and bow motif engraved on a Pointed Antique handle.

The heavily hammered, oval, bowl with notched shoulders, is a telling feature that places it within the Arts & Crafts mode, dating from the early decades of the 20th Century.

Further evidence of its construction is the fact that the handle and bowl were individually made and joined with an exposed drop on the backside...

A late 19th century scroll pattern with a French flair as is appropriate to its name, La Reine was made by Reed & Barton.

As with much of R&B's work, the line was heavy, and that is so for this 6" long sugar spoon which weighs nearly 1.2 T. oz.

One of numerous mid 19th century silver manufacturers situated in cities along the Hudson River, John L. Westervelt of Newburgh was a major producer in his 1840s to 1880s period.

This lengthy at 7 1/2" and weighty at 1.3 T. oz., master butter knife is stamped with his "star, lion, D" emblem along with "Sterling" on the blade backside.

The pattern is Ivy, which was one of Westervelt's full line designs...

The Baltimore Museum of Art volume Baltimore Silver notes that Andrew Ellicott Warner "is the best known of a family of silversmiths which included his father Cuthbert, brother Thomas, and son Andrew Ellicott Warner, Jr."

This example of his work is a 7" long, weighty at 1.3 T. oz., place or dessert spoon.

While the pattern on this 5 7/8" long, .9 T. oz., likely 1870s or 1880s, sugar spoon is by an unidentified maker and without a name, the design and execution bespeak a sophisticated American manufacturer, and there are enough various pieces of this that surface to confirm it was issued as a full line.

The pattern is intricate and rather courtly, in a Henry VIII or Elizabeth I manner...

Part of a large carving set, this item measures 14 1/4" long.

The handle is hollow filled and comprises 5" of the total length of the piece, and is sterling silver, while the six-sided, pointed tip, sharpener is plated steel.

This is an early production item made by Gorham in its 1895 Chantilly pattern, marked "Sterling" and with the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem imprinted on both sides of the edge of the handle at the place where it meets the guard.

A 6" long, .8 T. oz. spoon with an "Old English," i.e. "Reverse Tipt," handle, this is stamped with the "lion, K, crown" emblem of Philadelphia silversmith Peter Krider and the word "Sterling."

A sugar spoon, although it bears some similarity to an ice cream spoon, it has a plum shaped, pointed end bowl with flange shoulders and a midrib down the center.

Likely dating from the 1870s, this exhibits the exquisite bright cut engraving for which Philadelphia silver of the period was renowned. ...

Watson Newell's "Orchid" is one of numerous floral designs the company produced in the early part of the 20th century that yet stand as exemplary expressions of Art Nouveau design.

This example is a 5" long, .9 T. oz., cream ladle.

The flower is fully three-dimensional, rising out of the end of handle and folding over on itself in a highly expressive manner, with trailing leaves tracing their way up the handle margins, front and back sides.

Unusual for Whiting in regard to the pattern which is a "Twist" handle with a faceted, four-sided, solid end, and the bowl form which is an elongated, gold washed, shell with a cupped heel with flange shoulders, this 6 1/8" long, .7 T. oz., item is likely a sugar spoon.

Dating from late in the 19th century, it is marked with the Whiting "lion with W" logo, "Sterling," and the number "30" on the heel backside.

Never monogrammed, it remains in outstanding condition, with the only wear being ...

A 7 1/8" long, just over .9 T. oz., this item is emblematic of its c. 1880 period.

Marked only "Sterling" and "27" on the otherwise plain backside, the maker is unidentified and neither the shape of the blade and handle, nor the particular engraving is definitive as they are singular.

Decidedly "Aesthetic," i.e. "Eastlake," in mode, the bright cut and wriggle work engraving portrays ferns, grasses, flowers, along with non-representational detailing.

Made by Frank Smith, Federal Cotillion, was introduced in 1901 the year the Victorian era ended and the Edwardian one began, which likely explains the original name of the pattern, Edward VII.

A nearly identical design to Whiting's King Edward, also dating from 1901, the pattern is a stately interpretation of a traditional English Kings.

A noted 19th century Philadelphia silver manufacturer, William Faber, later joined by his sons, produced items of high quality and lasting appeal as evidenced in this solid silver 7 1/2" long, 1.1 T. oz., master butter knife.

Dating circa 1870, the handle is of a form that Faber favored. It has a curved surface handle with a gently pointed tip and scalloped sides. This is bright cut and wriggle work engraved in a period, toward a Greek Revival style, design that incorporates a leaf and flower...

A 7 3/8" long, 1.1 T. oz., preserve spoon, this 19th century piece is marked "Sterling" without a manufacturer's identification.

Essentially flat-handled with a shaped margin, raised central oval, and bright cut engraved detailing, the style suggests maker Fessenden of Providence, Rhode Island.

The rounded end, shallow, bowl, has flanged and notched shoulders, a central raised vee, and is wriggle work engraved in a leaf motif set against a matte ground.

This 6" long, very heavy at 1.4 T. oz., teaspoon is an early production example of Gorham's "Cluny," marked with the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Copyrighted."

Originated by renowned designer Antoine Heller, the pattern features dense, high relief, floral elements with rosette and palmetto accents.

A commemorative item, it is engraved in the bowl "Stroudsburg" in script, as well as with the date "Nov. 10. 1903" on the handle backside.
