Stamped for the mid 19th century partnership of Lewis Voute and Jeremiah Groff, clock and watchmakers and silver retailers, Philadelphia, each of these two, matched, coin silver spoons measures 5 3/4" long, while the pair together weigh 1.0 T. oz.

A "Fiddle Tipt" pattern, they have broad, upturned, ends, high, pointed, shoulders off the bowls, and exposed drops on the bowl backsides.

They are engraved "MEN" in feathered script lettering set sideways on the handle fronts.

An expressive and detailed high relief design, Durgin's 1888 "Heraldic" incorporates many images appropriate to the name.

The iconography includes a pair of upraised (presumably eagle) wings that appear to rise out of a crown, which itself sits over a lion rampant on a shield. Lastly, there is a rearing steed projecting out of a castle turret set below the above images.

This example is a 6 7/8" long, relatively heavy, 1.5 T. oz., preserve or jelly spoon.

width 11 1/4; depth 6 inches, excellent original condition, no monogram, weight 23.4 Troy ounces (!), please see fifth enlargement for mark. The ink holder is a hand wrought gilt sterling (modern) replacement, which we think an improvement over the original which was glass.

A William C. Codman design, identical examples may be found in both the Jolie and Robert Shelton Collection, "Magnificent, Marvelous Martelé," pp. 498-9 and the MFA Boston, accession number 2001.804

This 7" long, weighty at 1.2 T. oz., spoon is an outstanding example of early 19th century Baltimore silver.

It is stamped for maker "A.E. Warner," who, along with his son "A.E. Warner, Jr.," was among the premier silversmiths in that city.

Identifiers also include a "shield, A, head of liberty," for an 1815 assay. Peculiar to Baltimore, this method of marking was used 1814-30 and designates a silver standard of 91.7%, midway between coin and sterling.

Marked "Gorham," "lion, anchor, G," "Sterling," model number "279," and "cement-loaded," on the undersides, and "Sterling" in the bases where the candles fit, these matched candlesticks stand 10" tall and rest on 4 1/2" diameter, tiered, bases.

They weigh 33.4 T. oz. the pair, although this is essentially irrelevant given they are weighted.

Likely dating from the 1930s, they are an elegant and lofty "Baluster" style, with fixed bobeches.

Measuring 6 1/2" long and weighing 1.2 T. oz., this sugar sifter has a round, 2" diameter, 1/2" deep, flat bottomed bowl that is finely pierced in a leaf design.

It is stamped with a French first standard (.950) Minerva head and the mark of Edouard Ernie, Paris, 1882 onward.

The solid silver handle is cast, straight, tubular, and features an acanthus leaf finial with additional leaf detailing along the shank and on the backside where it attaches to the bowl.

Matching items, these two teaspoons measure a lengthy 6 1/16" long each and weigh 1.3 T. oz. combined.

They have broad, "Tipt" handles with high, narrow and beveled, shoulders off the bowls and plain backsides.

The handles are engraved "ESF" in script, set sideways on the handle fronts.

Made by Hotchkiss & Schreuder of Syracuse, New York, whose "H&S" in pellets and a "star" is imprinted on the backsides, they were retailed by "A.C. Wortley Kalamazoo" as also appears on the reverses,... Click for details

These pink salt and pepper shakers in the Manhattan pattern are hard to find especially with original tops. The tops have some slight discoloration around the edges as you can see in the photo. The shakers are about 2 ½” tall and 1 ¼” square. Manufactured in the 1930’s by the Hocking Glass Company.

Beautiful pink jug or pitcher manufactured by the Dunbar Glass Company in the 1920’s. If is often called pre-depression glass since it was made prior to the depression era but resembles depression glass. It is about 10” tall with an etched flower on the body. Estimating it will hold about 50 ounces more or less. Excellent condition. We also have matching Beverage Bridge Set in our store.

Large and all silver, with a body that is measures 4 3/8" by 3 1/4" by 7/8", and weighs 5.4 T. oz., this flask holds "3/4 pint," as indicated on the underside. Other marks include Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," model number "81," and a date symbol for "1897."

Plain, it is curved as flasks often are, meant to comfortably fit a torso or hip when placed in a pocket.

The front wall is engraved in a flowing line script "LLG" monogram.
